Open House Recap: Introducing Sovegna's Intensive Outpatient Program
Last week, we opened our doors to providers and community partners to introduce Sovegna's Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). It was a chance to show our space, introduce our team, and share how the program works. Most of all, it was a chance to talk about the people it's built to help.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. The questions you asked and the stories you shared about your own patients reminded us why this work matters.
If you couldn't make it, here's a look at what we shared.
Why we built this program
Addiction, psychiatric conditions, and trauma rarely show up alone. Trauma can lead to avoidance. Avoidance can deepen depression or anxiety. And psychiatric symptoms can make old wounds harder to heal.
When only one of these is treated, the others often pull people back. That's why our IOP treats all three at the same time, in one coordinated plan. The program is led by Dr. Susie Wiet and delivered by a multidisciplinary team under one roof.
At Sovegna, we define addiction broadly. It can mean alcohol or drugs, but it can also mean overworking, gambling, food, screens, or relationships that help someone avoid what hurts. Our goal is to help people understand what's driving their struggles, build the skills to move through them, and get back to their lives.
What the program includes
Our IOP offers more structure than weekly therapy while letting people keep up with work, family, and daily life. Here's what participants receive:
Small groups. Groups of 6–8 people meet for 9–12 hours per week. The time includes group work, individual therapy, therapeutic assignments, nutrition, and creative process.
Experienced therapists. Our addiction-recovery and trauma-resiliency therapists each have 15+ years of experience.
Medical care on site. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT), integrative psychiatry, and addiction-aware primary care are available as clinically appropriate.
Support for loved ones. Family and couples therapy help rebuild the relationships that recovery depends on.
Accountability and aftercare. Drug screening and coordinated aftercare help people stay on track after the program ends.
A proven curriculum. The evidence-based curriculum was developed by Dr. Wiet and refined over 25+ years of clinical practice.
Who the program is for
The IOP serves adults facing substance use or behavioral addictions, co-occurring psychiatric conditions, trauma, or a risk of relapse. It's a strong fit for anyone who needs more support than a weekly appointment can offer, but who doesn't need residential care.
Recovery doesn't end when the program does. After completing the IOP, participants can continue with Sovegna for MAT, psychiatry, therapy, process groups, and primary care. That means no starting over with a new team at a vulnerable moment.
